Tip #1 - Homemade washing detergent to use with your UB Nappies

The ingredients can be purchased from most larger supermarkets around the country.

1 Bag of Lectric Soda (also referred to as Washing Soda)

1 Tub of Borax

You will need an icecream container or similar for storage (I found a 2L plenty enough)

Empty both ingredients into the container, Close the lid and ensure of even mixing throughout.

add a Teaspoon to the container for ease of use, (I just had a larger plastic teaspoon from one of the kids birthday parties one year)

When washing your nappies all you need is 1 tsp per 7kg load for a top loader (remember to use no more than half this for front loaders) and my nappies and other washing always comes out smelling fresh and clean.

The Borax is a natural whitener so there is no need for any use of harsh detergents like napisan or the like.

Between this and my stash of Rockin' Green my nappies have always had a fresh smell to them!
